Tell us about yourself!
Hello. My name is Adra Young. I am a educator of 20 years, author of three books for Tween's, Book Reviewer, Food Critic, and host of the Cooks and Books Radio Show which airs every Thursday at 5pm.
When did you begin writing?
My first book was released in 2005. I started writing in 2003.
What is the title of your most recent book? What's it about in a paragraph?
The title of my latest book, The Misfits was released in 2013. A synopsis of the book is as follows.... Chelsea, a middle school student along with her friends, Brandon, Megan, and Josh all have one thing in common. All four of these students were bullied as sixth graders attending Vernon Middle School. Dreading the fact that the first day of school is soon upon them, follow The Misfits on their journey to discover if life gets any better for them as seventh graders before it gets worse.
Why did you write your book?
I wrote this fictional read in particular for middle school youngsters and the bullying epidemic taking place worldwide.
What specific challenges did you face when writing and publishing your book?
Selecting the best book cover, and finding the perfect editor.
What has been the most rewarding part of writing and publishing your book?
The most rewarding part about writing the Misfits, my third literary read for Tween's was sharing my message to youngsters ages 11 and up regarding the importance of trying to implement methodical solutions regarding the issue.
What tip or piece of advice would you give to unpublished writers?
If there's an original thought that continuously enters your mind over and over, most likely it's your instinct telling you to write that story and share it with the world.
